Amsterdam is truly a beautiful city, a mix of cobblestone streets and little canals. And the people really love their bicycles! Why not? I think it’s the idyllic lifestyle to ride a bicycle to work and play. Plus, you have flowers everywhere. sigh. posted by Veronica
View post →One of the most memorable moments of my recent voyage on the Charles W. Morgan was when one of the sailors began singing sea shanties on board. It was foggy on the deck, and a most soulful moment. You can read more about the voyage in part 3 of my visual essay here. posted […]
View post →While strolling around Paris last weekend, Neil and I came across this lovely flower shop. So Parisian – a wrought iron cage surrounding beautiful fragrant blooms. And it was somebody’s birthday, so there was a little party going on inside. It reminded me of a Renoir. So lovely. Every time I return from Europe, I’m […]

View post →Michele’s recent post about the Picasso Museum in Paris made me think of my own times spent in that beautiful city. Here is a drawing of I.M.Pei’s famous glass pyramid in the courtyard of the Louvre. People seem to love it or hate it. I love it. Posted by Veronica
View post →A quick drawing I made in my sketchbook, of our ever-changing NYC skyline. This was made from the Central Park Zoo. You can see the giant pencil-thin tower, “One 57” going up at the right. It’s even taller now than it was when I drew this, about two months ago. I hear you’ll be able […]
View post →I love the lazy days of summer. This is a watercolor I did in between napping, on a blanket at Brooklyn Bridge park. Thought it would be fun to use only watercolor to make a little reportage drawing of this couple having a romantic afternoon. posted by Veronica
View post →Another ship drawing, this time of the USS Constitution, docked in Boston harbor. I sailed up to the Constitution on board the Charles W. Morgan (more on that in a later post) and she was an awesome and imposing sight. The Morgan felt light and airy next to the Constitution’s huge black hull and black […]
View post →On Tuesday, July 15, I will be riding as a 38th Voyager on the Provincetown to Boston leg of the Voyage of the Charles W. Morgan. Can’t wait to share my drawings and experiences with all of you who follow this blog! But right now, I’m sailing… : ) Posted by Veronica
View post →It’s so nice, in the middle of a busy time with work, to take a day off with family and just relax. I did this watercolor in Astoria Park, in Queens, NY. Was it before or after my nap? I can’t remember…I definitely know I had some delicious Greek food later that day. : ) […]

View post →Anyone who lives with an illustrator knows that, from time to time, you will be asked to pose as various characters for illustrations. My husband Neil has posed as a prince, a construction worker, a soldier, etc., etc. My sister Patty has done her share too – it’s fun, I hope, and so nice to […]
View post →A drawing of the NYC skyline that I made from Central Park, while completing one of my favorite reportage assignments. The skyline keeps changing, but I’ll always love New York. posted by Veronica
View post →Dean, one of the many workers and volunteers at Mystic Seaport who put in many, many hours of manual labor to get the Charles W. Morgan ready to sail this summer. She’s currently in New London, being fitted out for her journey through New England this summer. Very exciting! You can see her voyage itinerary HERE. posted […]
View post →This weekend, I traveled with the Dalvero Academy to Mystic Seaport, to watch the Morgan leave Mystic and travel to New London, Connecticut. It was the first leg of her 38th Voyage. Once she was in New London, the crew began the process of ‘bending the sails’ – tying them to the spars of the […]
View post →Fifty years too late for the Summer of Love, I visited the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco. The groovy feeling is still there, even the buildings have a psychedelic vibe! Fun place to draw. I’ll be posting more of my San Fran trip on my blog later this week… posted by Veronica
View post →Just got back from a few days in San Francisco. Did some work, and some studying/playing too! The first afternoon I arrived, I high tailed it over to the Disney Family Museum to see the Mary Blair show. It was fantastic! What a career, and what a talent she was. It was especially fun to […]

We had an exhibit of our reportage and illustration work inspired by the restoration, which opened at Mystic Seaport in 2012. (www.dalveromystic.com) This summer, The Charles W. […]
