No doubt this calendar year’s end looks different from those past. There area few traditions this season that I am going to miss for sure. One of which is my annual trek to see the Christmas Tree and Neapolitan Baroque Crèche at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
View post →No matter what happens in the coming hours, or days if that be the case, the hope that this great nation preserves is in the fact that each of us has the ability to have a discussion with our neighbors, with our family, our co-workers—whomever—and have it be civil. Civil discourse. This is not a […]
View post →Not really, just taking stock and working on some old projects. Found this from a few years ago. Quick study of an autumnal tree.—Dominick
View post →I realized recently that I had put a long and ongoing project down earlier this year. Always good to crack open the old books and pick up where you left off. Sometimes it’s time to dive in again and see what is different on the pages from the last time you checked. Funny how time […]
View post →A little sketch from a while back. Looking forward to what happens out on the Hudson this summer.—Dominick
View post →Somewhere over the last two days I read the history of the Time Square celebration and the origin of the ball dropping. A year is just a number but for some reason I, like so many others, put stock in the blank canvas, the fresh start, the days to come. When the celebration started in […]
View post →Each weekend Studio 1482 will be featuring posts from the One Drawing A Day archives. Today’s post is by Dominick Santise, from back in 2016. It’s titled “Waiting for a Burger.” #ODADarchive I’ve been playing with my brush pen a bit lately. The name is in Japanese, so I have no idea what it is called. […]

View post →Had a great time drawing and hanging with friends, Margaret, Julia, Kati, and Andrew last week at Society of Illustrators.—Dominick

It’s titled “Into the Unknown.” #ODADarchive When I was a young boy I could often be found wandering the forest beyond the edges of our little hill top neighborhood. Sometimes alone, […]

View post →Yesterday I watched as the school kids, softball teams, marching bands, politicians, and cultural organizations walked in our towns yearly parade of spirit. Mixed in, and new to this years procession, was a local group fighting for their voices to be heard. Right or wrong, without speaking, they made more of an impression on the crowds gathered for our city’s annual celebration […]
View post →Two weeks can seem like an eternity and sometimes it can happen overnight. Sometimes both occur to prove science still has not fully grasped the time space continuum. Had I written down my resolutions maybe they would have meant a little more. So I start today. I vow to keep up with this blog, fill […]
View post →Did a quick drawing while waiting for lunch on Stone Street and thinking of the first settlers in lower Manhattan. Narrow streets and “tall” buildings make it all very European. —Dominick
View post →Not as much of an event as the May Day Protests, but Union Square is always one of the best spots in New York for people watching and of course spending some time drawing. I found myself with a few hours to kill, an unusual event as of late, and nearby one of my favorite […]

View post →Another misplaced crowd drawing from the same time period as last weeks. This one of Grand Central from a few years back.—pre-Apple store and Shake Shack. Long before the “Gate of Hell” GCT was where i went to draw as many people as New York had to offer. Always a fun crowd.—Dominick
