As New Yorkers we often think we’re so much “in control”. Yet this week Mother Nature really let be known who’s in charge! Still stunned by how many trees we lost in my neighborhood from the tornado I spent a few minutes in the yard wondering how the birds reacted to the loss. To my […]
View post →An ink drawing from the New York City / Times Square premiere for season 4 of Mad Men. This drawing is of two of the female leads, January Jones and Elizabeth Moss, who were at the screening. In the coming weeks I’ll be posting a few more of the drawings I made that evening.
View post →Here is a thumbnail I did of the arched public space in Gaudi’s Park Guell. The design of it felt like sunflowers reaching up to the sky…gorgeous. See the full drawing and a few more from the day on my blog. Posted by Veronica.
View post →I drew the cpdsa skaters again in Central Park. Â This time I drew them with two hands. Â I’m thinking that that is a more logical and artistic approach to the roller skaters movements and actions. Â It felt more comfortable to me than drawing them with one hand; I could accomplish more with two handed drawing […]
View post →It took all summer, but James finally found the courage to go down the tallest slide in his playground. It’s a spiral! He laughed and laughed every time. Go Jumbo! To see more drawings from that day, click here. Drawing by Despina

View post →This is a portrait of a WAVE officer in front of her desk. Wonder Woman fans know that Diana Prince was a sexily bespectacled and clipboard-carrying WAVE officer who helped the U.S. fight the Nazis during WWII, and we all know that I have a thing for all things Wonder Woman…
View post →Had some free time over the recent holiday weekend and so I decided to do some drawings of something I don’t often draw – cars. Maybe this is stereotypical, but it seems to me that men understand cars better than women do – and of course the thought of that makes me want to understand […]
View post →SUPERMAN? Yes, Superman…he came flying around the cpdsa skate circle like a bat outta hell, faster than a speeding bullet… Â Draw, I said to myself, draw! Â I drew. Â Wow, that was cool! Â Superman just came around the circle laying on his side and balancing on one leg! Â Only Superman can do that I thought. Â I […]

View post →What better way to say goodbye to summer fun than spending time color’en with water down at the seaport. Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend! Michele
View post →I used to dislike the “plumber’s nightmare” of boats and ships but recently have begun to embrace the complication by tracing the shapes not literally, but with a certain relaxed, noodly line that this drawing is a good example of. This boat caught my eye with its sinewy details and maritimey grandiosity.
View post →I had another fun evening recently drawing Neil and his fellow Aikido practitioners at the Long Island Aikiki. It’s fun to try to capture their moves on paper and, I think, a much less strenuous way for me to participate! Posted by Veronica.
View post →These two roller skaters are at the CPDSA circle every time I’ve been there. Â They dance alone or with other skaters, but when they dance with each other it is truly beautiful. Â They glide in and out of each other; blending and parting, parting and blending. Â Her knee will go up and out as he […]
View post →I thought it worth mentioning the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is hosting a series of exciting events associated with the United States Air Force this week from August 24th through August 29th.  The mission is to bring together the Air Force and the general public and illustrate the incredible mix of services the people […]
View post →This is a drawing of some ladies listening to traditional Irish love songs. Their love for the music was obvious and as a music lover myself I was touched by that, though I could not help but indulge a little in their odd shapes.
View post →Squeezing in those last days of summer at New York’s Central Park, by the Bethesda Fountain. The angel of the fountain looms large in the hearts of New Yorkers! I was able to spend a lovely day at the park with Studio 1482’s Margaret Hurst and Liz Steel, an urban sketcher from Australia. What a […]
