No doubt this calendar year’s end looks different from those past. There area few traditions this season that I am going to miss for sure. One of which is my annual trek to see the Christmas Tree and Neapolitan Baroque Crèche at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
View post →I know this is momentary, no matter how long the moment might be lasting. I can’t say that I haven’t adjusted to being so close to home every day, day in and day out, but as the moments have come to do what I so love to do, I jump right in with both feet. […]
View post →No matter what happens in the coming hours, or days if that be the case, the hope that this great nation preserves is in the fact that each of us has the ability to have a discussion with our neighbors, with our family, our co-workers—whomever—and have it be civil. Civil discourse. This is not a […]
View post →Another socially distant drawing from two weeks ago. Cafe’s and crowds itching to gather a little closer have passed the time, but there is a whole population I have been itching to draw. As we establish proper boundaries and protocol it was nice to be able to go onsite and draw.—Dominick
View post →Socially distanced I drew last week as another chapter came to a close. I won’t say the story is over, he has a little bit more to pass on. Press, pressman, and inspector will move on to another adventure. Hopefully I can get access again once the new digs are set up. I have to […]
View post →When I was a kid I would love it when the candles were lit during a power outage—wrapping up in a blanket, thinking I would stay up as late as could be even though the sun went down between 4:30 and 5:00 PM and night came upon us before the evening news would have. In […]
View post →Tuesday’s have always been an off day for me. Even in quarantine I find I am just not myself on Tuesday’s. Hence why so many posts are late in the day—or sometimes never arrive. There is a never ending list of reasons why the day takes a turn. Maybe it’s because I never had […]
View post →Somehow even with the extra day February is all but a memory. Aside for the lack of snow, the year has started off on the right foot or should I say opposite hand, and I have been drawing and thinking, thinking and drawing, whenever I can. —Dominick
View post →Certain elements seem to pop up when you need them most, or maybe you just weren’t ready to see them until the right moment. No matter what, pay attention to everything.—Dominick
View post →It is impossible to fit into a few short lines what an afternoon experience means when you have longed to make said experience happen as far back as the moment it was announced. Looking through a few very old sketchbooks today, I realized that the past week has been an abrupt and very direct reminder […]
View post →Not sure if she saw me drawing her or not but it certainly feels that way looking at the image.—Dominick
View post →I realized recently that I had put a long and ongoing project down earlier this year. Always good to crack open the old books and pick up where you left off. Sometimes it’s time to dive in again and see what is different on the pages from the last time you checked. Funny how time […]
View post →Palette and brushes in hand, there sat Leonardo with his muse. —Dominick
View post →Staring at the first version of the right hand piece on the floor in the studio I realized there was more to this project than I remembered. Maybe a good springtime venture.—Dominick
View post →Not sure if these two will become a part of the adventure but it was to draw none the less.—Dominick
View post →A long time ago, in a land down yonder river, I started an adventure with a knight. It follows me wherever I go and recently appeared right before my eyes. Tales of long ago, and not so long ago as well, flooded back. Maybe the snow moon will bring along some new directions. —Dominick
View post →It was like Narnia outside today, yet no Turkish Delight to be found. Lots of ice and no time to play. I keep telling myself the next time it snows I am taking a snow day, but something always comes up. Maybe next time. What did that woodchuck see last week anyway? —Dominick
View post →I hadn’t come prepared for the theme of the night, but when two people at the bar were playing chess and the music filling the room was resonating out hymns of kings and queens I quickly realized that the act before me was several moves ahead of me. Arielle and Brendan produced a full set […]
