View post →A few years back, I had the opportunity to get up close and personal with a couple of (very large) horses. I mainly did a lot of shooting that day as their handler had them trotting, galloping and doing all kinds of things. But as I was looking through the photos recently, I found a […]

View post →I recently went to draw at the Plaza Hotel in NYC. Very beautiful area with rich history, beautiful structures and some of the best people watching. This is a drawing I made of a few tourists resting by the fountain. I know it’s easy to get jaded about tourists in Manhattan. The way they walk […]
View post →I’m not sure about much, but I know that animals will never stop blowing my mind! At the Turtle Back Zoo today, my son and I watched this kimodo dragon taking a drink from a little stream. It’s basically a dinosaur. And that basically blows my mind. ~Despina
View post →“You ain’t seen nothing yet” These are the words I heard upon entering the Conservatory at Longwood Gardens. View post →I like to move the objets d’art in my home around quite often. I like to change the scenery. Today, while shuffling the ‘stuff’ around I made some drawings of a few items. I was drawn to the patterns created when I mixed pieces from different cultures. This is a quick drawing of a wooden […]
View post →Here’s another version of Winter from the sketchbook. ~Despina
View post →First day of winter. First day of the end of the world? Below is one of many preliminary drawings from a project about Winter that I worked on a few years ago. She is putting on (or taking off?) a cloak of destruction. Apocalypse in Greek means “to unveil”. So to me, today maybe shouldn’t […]

View post →Wax resist is pretty fun to do. I melted some candle wax and used a fine brush to paint the lines of my drawing. After the paint dried it felt good to scrape the wax away to reveal the image. That’s my little gingerbread boy playing in the snow. ~Despina

On the day I was drawing the famous Peking there were countless people working on it. I chose this image because of how […]
