Aaahhh…..Kika the Beautiful! A wonderful model that we have been drawing for many years, incredible lady to draw and converse with while she is modeling! She’s so culturally oriented that her conversations as well as her “costumes” are pretty global and mythical. As I said, aaaaahhhhh, lovely! Thanks, Kika! Margaret Hurst
View post →These are some drawings I made one time at the NY Aquarium. I love watching jellyfish move. When I was growing up in St. Thomas there were  some jellyfish that would show up at Magens Bay on particularly hot days, which means pretty frequently! I didn’t wish to get stung by any of them but […]

View post →Took the opportunity the other day to draw some of my fellow E-train riders. The woman on the right was very suspicious of me…she didn’t seem sure of what I was doing, but she knew she didn’t like it! The lady on the left was engrossed with her smart phone…similar to the woman in Margaret’s […]
View post →This scene cracked me up! Two commuters, I believe they were friends, were on the bus going uptown. She was directing her conversation to him and he was plugged into his iphone, completely oblivious to her conversation! Wait, you have to be exchanging words and thoughts to be having a conversation, right? So I guess […]

View post →Dolphin, what would you do? Another  little innocent asking mom and dad what they would do if he were a…dolphin? An answer of unconditional love. Margaret Hurst
View post →I love spending time in the studio drawing from the model. To just focus on design, line, marks, color, proportion; and play around with different ways of approaching a drawing; without any obligation to anyone, is PURE BLISS! If I do manage to get to heaven, hope so, I think there will be a big […]
View post →A thumbnail drawing of an idea I have for a children’s book entitled, “If I were a…would you still love me?” Little piglet… Margaret Hurst
View post →I found another drawing of the model from a great drawing session with some of the members of studio 1482. As I always say, you can’t beat a wonderful day of drawing in a room full of positive vibes! You can give me that any day of the year!!! Cheers! Margaret Hurst

View post →I finally tried one of those multicolored pencils to draw with. I actually enjoyed it! You never know what color is going to come out where, so it’s always a toss up, fun!  The pencil is made by KOH-I-NOOR HARDTMUTH. And, it’s entitled, MAGIC! Margaret Hurst
View post →I recently went to draw at the Plaza Hotel in NYC. Very beautiful area with rich history, beautiful structures and some of the best people watching. This is a drawing I made of a few tourists resting by the fountain. I know it’s easy to get jaded about tourists in Manhattan. The way they walk […]
View post →I went through some drawings that I made not too long ago and this little “jungle” drawing thumbnail appeared! It’s a jungle but not your typical jungle. I don’t remember why I made the thumbnail. Â There is a polar bear on an iceberg, a frog with a large right leg, an elephant with some giraffe […]
View post →I’m not sure about much, but I know that animals will never stop blowing my mind! At the Turtle Back Zoo today, my son and I watched this kimodo dragon taking a drink from a little stream. It’s basically a dinosaur. And that basically blows my mind. ~Despina

Here is a ‘rejected’ sketch of some ICE hockey players I drew for an editorial job I worked on a few years ago. You can […]
View post →One ginormous step… Again, a drawing I made in the studio while drawing with other studio 1482 members, Greg, Despina and Veronica! Can never get enough of it! Â iphone snap shot, so… Margaret Hurst
View post →“You ain’t seen nothing yet” These are the words I heard upon entering the Conservatory at Longwood Gardens. The kind old man on his scooter noticed me in my state of shock and awe after seeing the beyond-words-beautiful entrance, and felt the need to warn me about the rest of the place. He was not […]

View post →I do believe it! I do believe it’s true! The Penguins at the Central Park Zoo are mesmerizing! They are so much fun to watch and draw. They never stay still for a moment. They’re either chatting with each other, eating, climbing out of the water, jumping into the water or swimming in the water! […]
