The art was inspired by the bamboo tree, a symbol of longevity, constancy, yielding but enduring strength. It is also said that the bamboo tree is like the humble man who bows before the storm and rises again. Amidst all that has happened I have nothing but love and admiration for the people of Japan. They have a way of getting up after the storm and looking to the left and to the right and help one another without consideration for themselves. My prayers are with you all.
