I had such a nice time last Tuesday at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden with my location drawing class that I brought Neil back on Saturday to see the garden in bloom. And boy, was it ever! More cherry trees were blossoming, along with magnolias, forsythias, daffodils, and a beautiful variety of tulips. Heavenly! We sat on a bench for a while and Neil drew while I played with watercolors. Did a little landscape study, above. Been thinking about watercolor painting in earnest the last few weeks, as I just finished the manuscript for our next Studio 1482 book: One Watercolor A Day: A 6-Week Course Exploring Creativity Using Watercolor, Pattern, and Design. It’s the same kind of experiential book as One Drawing A Day, this time focused on one of my favorite mediums: watercolor. I really enjoyed writing it and even did a few color studies for the first few exercises, as did everyone else in the studio. Hope you can check it out, it’s available for pre-order right now on Amazon.com – click HERE for the link.
Happy week everyone – if it’s spring where you are, hope you are enjoying it as much as I am!

Thanks Jen, we hope you like the new one as well!
Really looking forward to the book, I loved the last one. It ia a beautiful spring day in Vancouver, lots of colour, going out with my watercolours, thanks for the inspiration.

Great idea and I can’t wait to see it – any chance of a sneak ‘look inside’?
