Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

vl_torii_newyear

In honor of the upcoming New Year, I thought I’d post a painting from the Brooklyn Botanical Garden of the torii, a traditional Japanese gate found at the entrance to Shinto shrines.

The torii typically marks the entrance from the profane to the sacred and can symbolize new beginnings and passageways.

Wishing you all a sacred and wonderful 2014, full of blessings. Happy New Year!

We did this last year for 50 days, but didn’t keep it up. Hope to continue drawing everyday this year.
