Dancing Horses in Grand Central

Dancing Horses in Grand Central

vl_nick_cave

Yes, that title is correct! I went to Grand Central more than once this week to see Nick Cave’s “Heard NY” dancing horses perform. REALLY GREAT!

The display is all week at the terminal, put together by Creative Time and Metro Arts for Transit. Some info HERE.

The horse costumes were danced in by students from the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater. They did such a wonderful job! The music started soft, with a harp, and the horses pranced slowly and sweetly around the ‘pen’, while all the little kids reached their hands out to touch the straw. Then, the African drums started and the horses broke in two! And the back ends started dancing all by themselves! The break out part was my favorite – those back ends really know how to dance!! 🙂

Definitely check it out if you’re in town this week. Thanks to Nick Cave and HEARD•NY for bringing this to the public of our city. I’ll be posting more drawings of this on my blog, soon as I can get them scanned!
