winter cloak

First day of winter. First day of the end of the world? Below is one of many preliminary drawings from a project about Winter that I worked on a few years ago. She is putting on (or taking off?) a cloak of destruction. Apocalypse in Greek means “to unveil”.  So to me, today maybe shouldn’t be considered the end of things. Maybe it could be the unveiling of a great Age of Man. Maybe today marks the first day of an age of brotherhood, peace and understanding. God knows we need it. I have to believe she is taking off the cloak. ~Despina
