As brutal as it is, I have always been fascinated with boxing. Some of my earliest memories are those sitting with my dying grandfather watching a match on an old color tv in the Bronx. The whole room would be dark and the glow of the television would be the only light on those passing through. Through the arched doorway near his chair, where everyone else was talking and catching up, was another world altogether. I wouldn’t connect how much it left a mark on me until years later as I found myself waiting in anticipation  each time HBO aired a big match. —Dominick
