Just last summer I spent time ‘playing tourist’ in my home town of NYC. I drew at some of the favorite haunts, including this cafe at the at the now-struggling Hudson Yards development.
The coronavirus has hit the hospitality and entertainment industries of the city so hard that you wonder what will happen to our city. One silver lining though, has been the rejuvenated sense of community and neighborhood in the 5 boroughs, as restaurants open up outdoor seating and streets close off to traffic, becoming large urban gathering spots for the residents. I hope that this trend is one that will stay with us after the pandemic ends.
