With just over 7 days to go until tricks or treats, my mind is on All Hallows’ Eve. While I certainly didn’t know what the difference was between a Holy Day and a holiday when I was a kid, I revered October 31 as the official start of the winter holiday season, what a triumvirate (New Years Day was just a sad end to a long break, I didn’t find that so symbolic for many decades). Over the years I have found new respect and life in the day and its holy roots, but it still comes down to a childlike sense of self and the fear and respect for the unknown. Looking forward to the great costumes this year.—Dominick
