Spent a magical week this past July in St. Thomas, with Studio 1482 friend Margaret Hurst and her family. Margaret and I spent an afternoon at a park in the downtown area, drawing people and just feeling the overall laid back vibe. The place and people were heavenly. I’ve been thinking about these people non-stop since Hurricane Irma barreled through their island. I hope everyone in this picture, and everyone else on the island, has a place to sleep tonight, and enough to eat. It’s going to take a lot of hard work and faith to bring the island back to her former beauty.
And as I’m writing this, I’m thinking too of the tragedy of another kind that hit New York City on this day, sixteen years ago. It has taken a lot of hard work and faith for NYC to get back on her feet after 9/11, and the effects are still being felt in the memories we have of the people we lost and the innocence we can never regain.
Sending love and prayers to the people of Florida, the Caribbean, and St. Thomas, as well as to the survivors and families of the victims of 9/11 today…
Thank you for your kind thoughts and sentiments for the people in the Caribbean and the survivors of 9/11 in NYC.
Thank you Marg. Still can’t believe the pictures I’m seeing from St. Thomas.
