Today marks the 75th anniversary of the attacks on Pearl Harbor and I thought I’d post another drawing I made from the Revolutionary War reenactment I attended a few weeks back. I was told that the symbol of 2 hearts touching on the soldiers coats represents the idea that their “hearts and minds” are in the revolution. That sentiment reminded me of how the hearts and minds of our country were transformed after Pearl Harbor. For instance, I recently read that at the time of the attacks the USA had only the 14th largest military in the world. That statistic really told me just how serious we took the attacks and how drastically we changed our military philosophy, for better or for worse.
Let’s take a moment today to remember those lost on that day and the many days since.
