The Tea Cup ride at Disney World is one of my favorites to watch. People aren’t always sure what’s going to happen to them on the ride. So its a lot of fun to watch peoples’ reactions to the intense swirling! I can’t walk straight when I get off the ride! Fun! Margaret Hurst
View post →A quick drawing of a few lotus flowers at  the China Pavilion at Epcot. The petals of the lotus flower symbolize the expansion of the soul. I like that. Maybe its the way the lotus flower stands so beautifully tall and sensitive in the water. I don’t really know what the attraction is for me, […]
View post →While at the Japanese Pavilion at Epcot I was looking into the coy pond and noticed this one little plant growing out of a huge rock in the pond. It was so sweet standing there all by itself. Took a few minutes to draw it. Â Japan at Epcot is one of my favorite pavilions. It […]
View post →A Dragon…I was really hooked on drawing dragons for awhile. This little guy is one of them. Margaret Hurst
View post →A Midsummer’s Night Dream. My favorite Shakespeare play. I was asked by an editor what my favorite piece of literature/story would be to illustrate…not difficult to answer! Margaret Hurst
View post →A drawing/watercolor I made for a book I wanted to illustrate, Anansi Stories. The Anansi myth is from Africa. Basically Anansi is a trouble maker. He is mainly represented as a spider, but I thought it might be fun to make him human. In this picture/drawing Anansi is collecting up all the common sense in […]
View post →Construction workers doing their thing. These drawings were made a while back in New York city on the Upper East Side. It was great drawing at a construction site. There was so much going on and so much body language to go along with it! Fun! Margaret Hurst
View post →I couldn’t help it! Had to put up another Ridge!!! This is a small one painted in the corner of a large piece of paper, so I might be forced to post the larger part of the drawing next week!!! Anyway, a small Ridge! Margaret Hurst
View post →Yes, another model drawing, but not a another duck! Ridge is the model for this particular drawing. He is a great model; wonderful to draw. He’s over six feet tall, works out and has great muscle tone and great proportions, all making him a wonderful model to create some great picture making from! Our last […]
View post →A funky little hat with flowers on it! Kika, our model, placed the colorful flowers on top of this hat. I can’t remember if it is a cat or a cow hat. Anyway, it was terrific to draw the hat and design the black watercolor marks and get into the wild colors of the added […]
View post →A delightful day of drawing at the Dalvero Studio in Brooklyn with the Advanced Drawing Class. It’s been a wonderful week of non stop drawing and painting…wish every day were like this! Can I have some more please??? Margaret Hurst
View post →Two drawings of a model. Drawing the model is the best experience of your life. you connect on so many levels, as an artist and a human being. i will always want and love to draw the model from live. It is the most valuable endeavor I have done and will always do! Margaret Hurst
View post →A few years back I flew out to Arizona and drove to Joshua Tree National Park. It was unlike anything I had ever seen before. The shapes, the marks, the textures, the color, all of it was magical. Joshua trees look like people to me with raised hands reaching toward the sky. I would love […]
View post →I used my left hand to make the drawing of this model. The reason this is significant is because, you guessed it, I’m right handed. When I make my students draw with their “left” hands in class I call it their “ungiven” hand. Once in awhile a student is left handed and so I don’t […]
View post →I love elephants. I think they’re cool. I made this drawing/picture a while ago. I was inspired by being at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. After I took the Kilimanjaro Safari ride in Harambe Village and saw the elephants hanging out by the baobab tree I made a few inspired drawings. Just thinking about the relationship of […]
View post →I was looking through some of my older notebooks and I came across this drawing I made of two kinda whacky ladies at Epcot  in the Chinese Pavilion. God I love how amazing and different people can be. I really love to “people watch!” Definitely one of my favorite things to do in life! Margaret […]
View post →A model drawing made with the  “Magic” pencil!  Multi colors – you never know what’s going to come out! Margaret Hurst
View post →This is a tiny torri watercolor, 3.5″ X 3″, with caran d’ache accents. I painted/drew the torri at Epcot Center at Disney World in Orlando. Pretty abstract and hugely fun to paint! I highly recommend it! Margaret Hurst
View post →I decided to grace the blog once again with Kika The Beautiful! Remembering a great drawing afternoon! Margaret Hurst
View post →Aaahhh…..Kika the Beautiful! A wonderful model that we have been drawing for many years, incredible lady to draw and converse with while she is modeling! She’s so culturally oriented that her conversations as well as her “costumes” are pretty global and mythical. As I said, aaaaahhhhh, lovely! Thanks, Kika! Margaret Hurst
