Another socially distant drawing from two weeks ago. Cafe’s and crowds itching to gather a little closer have passed the time, but there is a whole population I have been itching to draw. As we establish proper boundaries and protocol it was nice to be able to go onsite and draw.—Dominick
View post →Socially distanced I drew last week as another chapter came to a close. I won’t say the story is over, he has a little bit more to pass on. Press, pressman, and inspector will move on to another adventure. Hopefully I can get access again once the new digs are set up. I have to […]
View post →Been itching to draw as much as possible lately. Found this in one of the early quarantine sessions and thought it would be a good reminder to draw daily.—Dominick
View post →I went on a nature walk today. Everything slowed down for just a little while. We put too much stress on big accomplishments—whatever that means anymore—and not enough on smaller moments. How would we get through our day without them. Without someone by our side to share them with. A neighbor, a friend, a pet, […]
View post →The years pass fast. Faster than I realize most days. Another has come and gone and come again the one that follows. I no longer look down but my gaze is met right before me. I catch what I can and plant what little seeds I can for the future.—Dominick
View post →The days pass. I read a reference to the current mood which stated “the days pass slowly and with great haste at the same time.” All around the faces change. Aged by the slow and steady waiting of the clock. Waiting for the moment to pass. Sitting before me, she only gave me but a […]
View post →For various reasons I have had the premise of heroes on my mind lately. How the past informs the future. How the present is a test for those who want better for all, not just a few. I did not grow up with the idea of hero worshipping. There were very few, if any, put […]
View post →As I began the quick little portrait I was asked to “get the background too!” I guess she didn’t like the first few.—Dominick
View post →Five months in the biggest thing missing from my daily life, aside from a good handshake or a nice bear hug of, is the practice of drawing the most crowded spaces in any city or town I may be in at the time. Something to look forward to for sure. Nothing to complain about. Life […]
View post →The noise out the window told a tale of greater chaos than I first expected. Warnings of severe winds and the side effects of Tropical Storm Isaias had been steady all morning. As with all such moments, there is nothing to fear until it happens. The winds blew threw and suddenly the neighborhood was brought […]
View post →I spent the better part of the weekend trying to resolve an old drawing. My patience as the years go by certainly grows. I look back on sketchbooks from one day of my life a decade and a half ago and wonder how I tried to get so much done. Then I start to see […]
View post →It was either that or “I Wear My Sunglasses at Night” which I figured was too long of a post title. The day rolled by rather quickly, as the past few weeks have. I’ve been looking through some recent drawings, trying to figure out where they fit in the arsenal. Not quite sure just yet […]
View post →Really longing to get out and draw—large crowds. Not going to happen anytime soon but feeling my way around what is possible. This old abstract crowd brought me some joy and hope. A little play to get the thoughts moving.—Dominick
View post →In all the change going on in the world at the moment, one of the benefits of being close to home constantly is that I have been able to take a step back and plan for the entire summer from a more grounded perspective. Having tried to plot out certain ideas over the years I […]
View post →Posted 6/3/2020: To say I felt isolated Tuesday would be an understatement. It wasn’t until late in the day that I saw all of the #BlackOutTuesday social media. I haven’t wanted to be online much, yesterday especially. While I searched for something to say, I was at a loss. All I can muster is this: Listen. […]
View post →Last week I reached out to my good friend Mark to check in during these crazy times. All was good on his end but we started talking shop and a little history. Way back in olden times when I was just out of school I worked in a print shop during the day doing various […]
View post →Part of staying close to home has been the realization that so much happens when you aren’t really paying attention. The number of bird calls I have discovered echoing through my neighborhood grows by the day. I also have noticed, just like watching a pot boil, that one should NOT watch grass grow. Nothing happens […]
View post →Having a bit of tea lately. Morning, afternoon, evening. A spot of tea served from the local tea trolly with a bit of conversation.—Dominick
View post →It’s funny the number of times in a given week you can jokingly say, “let me check my calendar” knowing there is barely anything on said calendar and yet somehow the weeks fly by in our current state of life with little room for relaxation. Every move requires plan. So before the next storm takes […]
