Riding into town earlier this week I got a chance to do a quick study on the subway. This woman’s energy was a little unusual and inviting to draw. With her chin up high and such an interesting portrait I couldn’t resist.
p.s. Happy Birthday Chris!

A drawing I made in Grand Central Terminal, New York City a few years back when I could really feel the heightened security.
A GREAT place to draw regardless.

Woke this morning to a blanket of snow. The kids were out early taking advantage of it’s fresh start. Me myself? …preferred nothing more than admiring it from inside with a yummy hot chocolate. – Have a warm one, Michele

A few drawings of the lovely Lynn. Enjoying several days in the museums of Washington DC, with the Dalvero Academy, preceded by a few days of drawing in our Brooklyn studio. A great way to start the New Year!

With all the heightened energy this week and busy-ness the season brings, it’s feels good to take a minute, just hang back and people watch, (with line that is). You might be surprised what you find.

Happy New Year!
May new opportunity and creative adventures flourish for you in 2012! – Michele

I’m thinking of the upcoming holidays and enjoying glasses of champagne a lovely party with friends, so I chose the artwork created for Henri’s Reserve.

Those who know me and my work will recognize the theme of the garden as a metaphor for paradise (home). I remember eating strawberries, gooseberries, currants, plums, peaches, apples and hazelnuts directly from the bush as a kid playing at our garden at #28. This page is part of an ongoing project on the history of feminism (notice the woman busy working the earth). It also makes me want to start a victory garden and eat freshly-harvested collard greens.

..there was a girl who dreamt of castles and pageantry. She learned to discover it really does exist!

…and it’s magical. Above is a page from my sketchbook of a few thumbnails of the carousel (and company) in the Magic Kingdom. - Michele

I was at my friends’ house this weekend and had the pleasure of seeing a mama and her baby in action. It reminded me of this drawing I had done awhile ago…
