Charles W. Morgan Restoration

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

The Charles W. Morgan, the last wooden whaling ship in the world.  Hard to believe, but true. This is a drawing made at  Mystic Seaport: The  Museum of America and the Sea, at Mystic, Connecticut, of the volunteers scraping the bow of the Morgan. She is a beautiful ship and the museum and her volunteers are doing an incredible restoration job!

Happy New Year!

Saturday, December 31st, 2011

I tried out some new settings on the Brushes app to make this drawing of a ginkgo leaf and another leaf, which I’m not sure of the name. But the ginkgo leaves seem to hold on the longest to their trees in my neighborhood. When the ginkgo leaves start to disappear I know it’s coming to the end of the year. So, here’s to new beginnings.

Happy New Year!

I was at my friends’ house this weekend and had the pleasure of seeing a mama and her baby in action. It reminded me of this drawing I had done awhile ago…

Henri’s Reserve, black and white

Monday, November 21st, 2011

I thought it would be nice to put one of the black and white illustrations drawn for Henri’s Reserve.  I tasted some of their champagnes and they were absolutely sublime!

San Francisco Dancer and Dog, motion drawing

Saturday, November 5th, 2011

When Ronnie and I took a class out to the West Coast this past July we were down by Fisherman’s Wharf for the Fourth of July. There was a band/orchestra that played and performed only Michael Jackson music. This lady and her dog were dancing to the music all day long. This drawing has two images of the Dancing Lady, one where she is sitting and gyrating to the music while hanging with her dog.  The other image she is up and dancing and loving every minute of it. I truly loved watching her dance and love her dog all afternoon…San Francisco is wonderful. There is no other place like it and its people.

So, this is another of the articles on the Journal of Empire Studies. This one is entitled, “James Joyce and the Consumption of Empire” by Lynn Bongiovanni.  What a great piece of writing on the Irish author, James Joyce! Another fun and challenging illustration!
