Right underneath the subway the Coquito Man yells at the top of his lungs, “COQUITO!”
Kids love it, adults love it, I love it. So yes I sat down, drew Mr. Coquito under the rumbling of the subway, and then proceeded with buying myself a large cup of coquito.

A place where respect and quiet is demanded. St. Patrick’s Cathedral is colossal, and when you walk in it only gets bigger. It’s a great place to draw, where you can stay cool and no one bothers you.

The purposes of bonsai are primarily contemplation (for the viewer) and the pleasant exercise of effort and ingenuity (for the grower).

IN RESPONSE TO THE RECENT TERRIBLE EARTHQUAKE IN JAPAN AND THE TSUNAMIS IN THE PACIFIC, THE ILLUSTRATORS OF STUDIO 1482 HAVE EACH CREATED A PIECE OF ART TO RAISE MONEY ON BEHALF OF THE VICTIMS. PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION.

“Receive every day as a resurrection from death, as a new enjoyment of life; meet every rising sun with such sentiments of God’s goodness, as if you had seen it, and all things, new – created upon your account: and under the sense of so great a blessing” -William Law
The art was inspired by the bamboo tree, a symbol of longevity, constancy, yielding but enduring strength. It is also said that the bamboo tree is like the humble man who bows before the storm and rises again. Amidst all that has happened I have nothing but love and admiration for the people of Japan. They have a way of getting up after the storm and looking to the left and to the right and help one another without consideration for themselves. My prayers are with you all.

In response to the recent terrible earthquake in Japan and the tsunamis in the Pacific, the illustrators of Studio 1482 have each created a piece of art to raise money on behalf of the victims. Please click here for more information.

Your gift to the American Red Cross will support our disaster relief efforts to help those affected by the earthquake in Japan and tsunami throughout the Pacific. On those rare occasions when donations exceed American Red Cross expenses for a specific disaster, contributions are used to prepare for and serve victims of other disasters. (From their website.)
For each donation of $50 or more, you will receive a hand-signed 13″ x 19″ limited edition print from one of the Studio 1482 illustrators. Please select from the illustrations below, limited edition of 10 per image. The first eight people to donate $1482 receive a signed original of their choice (while supplies last). To participate: please click here for a link to the American Red Cross website. When you receive your donation receipt via email, forward that email along with your choice of illustration print to info@studio1482.com. (Please note: only the last four digits of your credit card number will be visible on the receipt.)
Once we receive the confirmation email, your print or original art of choice* will be sent to you. Please allow up to two weeks for delivery.
Thank you for joining in our effort to help.
Sincerely,
The illustrators of Studio 1482

Once considered a limitless and inexhaustible resource, oceans are in jeopardy. The demands of a growing population are damaging marine ecosystems and depleting ocean and coastal resources. New and innovative approaches are needed now to maintain and restore the biological wealth of the world’s oceans and coasts.
