Two Japanese Ladies, One Umbrella, One Butterfly

Another drawing/watercolor of two Japanese ladies inspired by the Japanese Pavilion at Epcot. They share one umbrella. I truly love the patterns and patterning that you find in Japan: water, nature, fabric, everything! So beautiful!

    This is wonderful. How do you keep the whites on the patterns? Thanks in advance.

    Hi Hecuba-
    I let the watercolour base dry, really well, and then painted the patterns on with an almost dry brush of white watercolor. It stayed put :) thanks for asking!
