1482 JAPAN Relief Fundraiser

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

In response to the recent terrible earthquake in Japan and the tsunamis in the Pacific, the illustrators of Studio 1482 have each created a piece of art to raise  money on behalf of the victims.

Your gift to the American Red Cross will support our disaster relief efforts to help those affected by the earthquake in Japan and tsunami throughout the Pacific. On those rare occasions when donations exceed American Red Cross expenses for a specific disaster, contributions are used to prepare for and serve victims of other disasters. (From their website.)

For each donation of $50 or more, you will receive a hand-signed 13″ x 19″ limited edition print from one of the Studio 1482 illustrators. Please select from the illustrations below, limited edition of 10 per image. The first eight people to donate $1482 receive a signed original of their choice (while supplies last).

To participate: please click here for a link to the American Red Cross website. When you receive your donation receipt via email, forward that email along with your choice of illustration print to info@studio1482.com. (Please note: only the last four digits of your credit card number will be visible on the receipt.)

Once we receive the confirmation email, your print or original art of choice* will be sent to you. Please allow up to two weeks for delivery.

Thank you for joining in our effort to help.

Sincerely,

The illustrators of Studio 1482

Little princess

Monday, March 28th, 2011

It’s hard to resist drawing a little girl in a princess dress, especially when she is croutching among flowers, absorbed in their beauty. As seen at the English Garden.

Harry Connick, Jr.

Sunday, March 27th, 2011

Been going through my flat files lately, and came across a series of drawings I did when Harry Connick, Jr. performed outside of Bloomingdale’s for the Christmas crowd. This was fun to draw, and one of many reasons why I like living in New York City. – posted by Veronica.

Drawing of skater's lined up

So it’s official, the cpdsa will be opening the rink in Central Park on Saturday April 9th.  I’m so happy they were able to get enough funds together to go yet another season!

Brooklyn Bridge Memory

Friday, March 25th, 2011

After spending such a long time on that bridge drawing, I remember I couldn’t get the smell of the exhaust from all the cars out of my nose or the taste out of my mouth! But I also remember being with some really great people. It was a long time ago, and every time I come across this drawing it reminds me of some really happy times. -Despina

Tulips, and snow?

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold:  when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade. ~ Charles Dickens

This was just last week? Can there really be snow today??? Join me welcome spring…share a smile, a seat or even a coffee with someone who needs it. - Michele

Orlando Airport 2

Sunday, March 20th, 2011

Another drawing I did at the Orlando airport of some fellow travelers. I tried to capture both the potted Floridian palm trees and the generic, low-energy atmosphere of this rather generic airport…

South Street Seaport

Saturday, March 19th, 2011

Above is a wood engraving I made of the South Street Seaport, years ago. I love the Seaport – it’s such a unique spot in New York City, and so directly tied to the city’s history. On a sunny day, there’s nothing better than going down to the Seaport to make some drawings of the ships. The Peking, the Ambrose, all of them. I have a friend whose son lived on the lighthouse ship one summer – wow!

There have been rumors that the South Street Seaport is in trouble, but also rumors of a rejuvenation. Click HERE to read a recent article in the New York Observer.

when irish eyes are smiling

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

Top of the morning everyone! I’ve heard that real Irish people in Ireland don’t like and never use this saying, but I’ve always liked it and feel pretty cool that I know the lesser-known correct response.  -Despina

ps- the correct response is “and the rest of the day to yourself!” Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

‘Playing with Patterns’… take 2

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

Here is another image from the watercolor series I mentioned last week experimenting with years back in the Japanese gardens in Epcot.

It was another study exploring with what might happen when the natural patterns a garden make and the theatrical patterns a woman make merge together.

Orlando Airport

Saturday, March 12th, 2011

I love drawing so much that I will take any opportunity to make a sketch of my surroundings. This is one that I made at the Orlando International Airport. I’ll post the second one of these next week…
